In today’s world we take the screening of our leaders very seriously. We implement a multi-step selection process for mentors, which includes applications, interviews, background checks and volunteer training.
Rest assured that ALL students are welcome at SCY and will be encouraged to LIVE BIGGER and LOVE BETTER. No matter where your student spends most of their energy — athletics, academics, music or other extracurriculars — our staff and volunteers are excited to walk with them through life and to love them well along the way.

SCY has three separate programs for elementary students, middle school students and high school students. Each program meets weekly for games and discussions with additional weekly and monthly social activities for the older students (middle and high school programs).

For our elementary students, SCY Express is a place of all-out fun with relay races, original group games, and crazy contests! The students will also learn about larger concepts like friendship, peace-making, forgiveness, prayer, gratitude, taking care of our world, etc. through lessons and stories.
Middle school can be one of the hardest parts of life, and we want to help students engage socially and spiritually through the lens of FUN. Our middle school students come together for FLY@SCY, a night of wacky games, contests and an engaging discussion. Weekly breakfast opportunities before school and exciting monthly events & annual trips are also offered. Our middle school leaders pursue connection with the students as they navigate the ups and downs of adolescence.
The hallways of high school can be a challenging place as students are navigating real-world issues and determining what kinds of young adults they will become. At SCY HI, we confront these questions head-on and cultivate lifestyles of exciting togetherness. We desire to assist SCY students in forming the best high school experience imaginable and to equip them to step into “life after high school” with confidence and compassion. SCY HI students meet our volunteers for breakfast before school, participate in monthly social events and engage in annual trips & service opportunities.

SCY is a non-profit organization that relies on a community of volunteers. There’s nothing quite as exciting as walking alongside of another human being as they’re trying to figure out the world around them. If you’d like to get involved at a volunteer level on a weekly basis, or you’re more interested in lending hands and feet for our big events; please feel free to contact us at

SCY Hi (9-12) – Mondays 7-8:30pm
SCY Express (K-5) – Tuesdays 5:45-7pm
FLY @ SCY (6-8) – Thursdays 7-8:30pm

No, please arrange to drop-off and pick-up your student for weekly SCY nights. Transportation will be provided from the building for other FLY@SCY and SCY HI events away from the building, depending on the specific activity.
We take the safety of our students very seriously, so we take every precaution and incorporate as many reasonable safety measures as possible.
We are always looking for quality & committed weekly adult volunteers! Occasional extra help for larger events are also needed. Or, you can support us financially through monthly or one-time donations. Please contact us for more information.
We believe faith is important and that we’re all hard-wired for meaning and connection. We follow the way of Jesus, but we’re not into pushing our faith on others. We hope students can explore their own faith in an inclusive environment while they’re at SCY.

We will have a time where students can purchase drinks and pizza at our cafe.
At all 3 programs, your student is likely to receive candy or other small treats from time to time. Please let us know if your student has any food allergies.
Of course! Please feel free to stop in before or after any SCY night or event to meet our leaders. The SCY Staff would also love to get to know you, so please give us a call or stop by the SCY office. Better yet, we’d love to meet you for coffee to get to know your family and story, and vice-versa!
Currently, the SCY Board consists of Chris Renner, Bruce Buller, Kathy Seaboldt, Shannon Dahman and Paul Steinweg. Our Board Consultant is Andy Braner. Please feel free to contact us if you’d like to get in touch with our behind-the-scenes support team!
